Data protection now included in all our plans

I believe that everyone should be backing up their data, including important cloud service data like G Suite. It's a risk - just like with on-premise equipment - to not have another "off-site" copy of your data to restore in an emergency.

Think about all your connecting devices, your Windows PCs, Macs, mobile devices and Chromebooks are computers that ALL have undiscovered vulnerabilities on them. That's the nature of software. But thanks to a great community of skilled people these are being disclosed appropriately and fixed quickly.

BUT...

as we all know with the ransomware style malware some of those vulnerabilities AREN'T being fixed in time or the bad guys are combining individually benign bugs and using them together to create a weapon that can render entire networks dead (remember WannaCry?).

Ok so I don't want to scare you, this is just the reality we live in and risk mitigation is what we need to do so we can reap the massive benefits of cloud computing for our businesses. Suffice to say, if you don't have a backup of your data and you lose it through unfortunate circumstances then your business systems are gone.

You have to start over. Ouch.

Backing up your business data is often an afterthought OR if it is being done - usually a very manual, conscious task that has to be done every day/week/month/year? That's why I now included Data Protection in all of my support plans by default (opt out is available of course) and because data backup is a secondary thought for most businesses I wanted to include it from the moment I set people up on G Suite.
